how many timeouts are in basketball

In basketball, the number of timeouts a team can take depends on the level of play:
1. NBA (National Basketball Association): Each team is allowed 7 timeouts in a regulation game. However, there are restrictions on how many can be taken in each half:
– 4 timeouts are available in the first half.
– 3 timeouts are available in the second half.
– Additionally, teams can use a timeout in overtime as well, and there is usually a limit of 2 timeouts per team in overtime.
2. NCAA (College Basketball): Teams are allowed 4 timeouts during regulation. However, there are some variations:
– In the second half, the team must use at least one of their timeouts, but they can use a maximum of 3.
– A 30-second timeout is also allowed, though it is typically shorter than the NBA’s full timeout.
3. FIBA (International Basketball): Teams are allowed 2 timeouts per half (first and second half). In overtime, 1 timeout is allowed.
Different basketball leagues may have different rules regarding timeouts, but these are the most common structures.
