what are field goals in basketball
In basketball, a field goal refers to any basket made during regular play, as opposed to free throws. A field goal can be worth two or three points, depending on the player’s position on the court when they take the shot:
– A two-point field goal is made from inside the three-point line.
– A three-point field goal is made from beyond the three-point arc.
Field goals are the most common way to score in basketball, as opposed to free throws, which are awarded after certain fouls.
