Netflix officially stopped supporting disc streaming for both the Wii and PS3 in 2019.
– Wii: Netflix ended disc-based streaming for the Wii on January 1, 2019. This followed the general trend of discontinuing support for older platforms as they shifted focus to newer technologies like smart TVs, streaming devices, and more modern consoles.
– PS3: Netflix’s disc streaming for PS3 also ended in 2019, with support for the disc-based version of Netflix ceasing in early 2019 as well. However, users could still access Netflix directly through the PS3 app, which had already replaced the disc-based streaming method prior to that.
In both cases, Netflix had already transitioned to digital streaming on these platforms well before discontinuing the discs, so by 2019, the service was fully focused on streaming content over the internet.
